Impress Workshop: 5 February 2011
Starbooks – The outcome
of this workshop will be a completed Chinese Star book. We will be
learning a new stitch for binding books as well as layering various
papers, prints and cut-outs. There are several ways of using this
particular book and the outcome can be unique and varied. You can
experiment with a variety of papers including transparent, printed or
textured, add pockets to display a unique collection, draw on your own
set of skills for pop-outs, the list is endless. Bring your ideas and
come prepared to construct a complete book.

Amanda's Bird Books are on display for the opening of the new Kenmore
Library on the 14th December 2010 until the end of January 2011 (date

2010 Sunnybank Hills Library Display
Amanda has been asked to display a number of her bird books at the
Sunnybank Hills Library from the 1st September until the 29th September
2010. The Sunnybank Hills Library is on level 2 of the Sunnybank Hills

2010 - Finely Bound Exhibition
Amanda's book 'Three Birds' is part of a group exhibition by the
Queensland Bookbinders Guild entitled 'Finely Bound'. It is currently on
show at the Queensland State Library, Southbank until January 2011.
Along with 30 exquisite books by members of the guild, there are also a
number of books on display from the James Hardy Collection. |

2010 Brisbane Square Library Exhibition
Amanda will be displaying a selection of her handmade Artist books in
her exhibition entitled 'Birds and Trees' at the Brisbane Square
Library, George Street, Brisbane, in May and June of 2010. She will also
be talking about her work on 12 June at 11am in the Tiered Theatrette,
on the ground floor in the Library.
Amanda has also had her book 'One Little Tree' selected in the Libris
Award exhibition in Mackay. |

2009 Southern Cross University Artists' Book Award.
Amanda's book 'Three Birds' has been accepted into the SCU Artist Book

Books Beyond Words Exhibition
Amanda O'Sullivan has had two books selected to be part of the 'Books
Beyond Words' award for artist books at the East Gippsland Art Gallery,
2 Nicholson St, Bairnsdale, VIC, (03) 5153 1988. 'Books Beyond Words'
aims to showcase excellence in expression, innovation, concept and in
the use of materials and contemporary artist books as well as pushing
the boundaries of the definition of 'book' and exploring it as a
sculptural form. Amanda's 'Bird Book' and 'Suburbia Box' set will be on
show. The exhibition opens 8th August and runs until 1st September. |

Cut-Paste Exhibition
Amanda O'Sullivan's book 'Woman of Upper Mount Gravatt', has been
selected to be part of an exhibition at the Australian National Capital
Artists Gallery, Canberra. It is a survey of contemporary collage based
practice. The show includes paper and digital collage, assemblage,
altered books and new media. The exhibition will open on the 15th July

Judging Exhibition
Amanda O'Sullivan will be one of the judges for the National Competition
for the Prison Fellowship Australia, Prisoner Art at the Brisbane City
Hall, Adelaide St, Brisbane. The Exhibtion will be opened on the 9th
July and run until 13th July. |
