2008 - SUBURBIA Paintings

Over the last four years, my work has focused on suburban landscapes featuring local homes and scenes in the Brisbane suburb of Mt Gravatt. In this body of work, these suburban scenes have been condensed into an interesting look at iconic representations of the suburbs. They feature street signs, traffic signals and road lights, as well as road maps and house roofs which are all taken from around my home. The scenes have been cleared of any cluttered landscape and I have used the objects as the focus. They are void of human activity, giving them a dreamlike reality.
